Toutaku, du lycée Rakuyou, est mort lors du précédent grand tournoi des Touchi (lycéens, réincarnations des héros d'il y a 1800 ans). La position d'école dominante est donc vacante. La lutte fait rage entre, notamment, les académies de Nanyou (sous les ordres de Sonsaku Hakufu), de Kyosho (menée par Sousou Moutoku) et le lycée Seito (Ryuubi Gentoku) pour le contrôle du Kanto.
Ryomou Shimei, de l'académie Nanyou, met la main sur le Dragon de Jade après une âpre lutte contre Kakouen Myosai de l'académie Kyosho. Ce dragon semble en effet posséder le pouvoir de maîtriser la puissance conférée par les 3 souverains aux Touchi en lesquels ils se sont réincarnes et ainsi vaincre la malédiction des magatama... Un objet fort convoité tant Sousou Moutoku, réincarnation du Roi Démon semble invincible, surtout après sa démonstration de force contre l'académie de Yoshuu.
